To boost your stamina and performance, try these 5 foods

Your pre-workout snack should vary depending on your workout. If you’re strength training, trying to stay lean and build muscle, then combining some of the sources of lean protein with the quicker-digesting carbohydrates about an hour before your workout will ensure that you get the nutrition punch you need to keep building muscle.


Below are some snacks idea you can have one hour prior to your workout-


  1. Egg whites

  2. Fruit, including oranges, strawberries, or apples

  3. Brown rice or long-grain white rice

  4. Oatmeal

  5. Wheat pasta

  6. Chicken or turkey


If your goal is weight loss, eating lightly around half an hour before your workout will allow you to head in with maximum energy--and combining a complex carbohydrate with a lean protein is the best way to fuel your body.


Below are some snacks idea you can have one hour prior to your workout-


  1. A banana with nut butter, especially almond butter

  2. Multigrain crackers with hummus

  3. An apple with peanut butter or a small handful of nuts

  4. 1/2 cup pasta or rice, preferably whole grain

  5. Any whole piece of fruit

  6. 1/2 cup oatmeal with raisins or berries
